Her research centers on the use of technology to enhance clinical training and outcomes, specifically relative to operative dentistry training. Dr. Maggio has a broad background in simulation technology and how it impacts the dental psychomotor training.

Currently, Dr. Maggio is working with the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences where together they devised a promising haptics teaching system, utilizing dental tools, to recreate the true feel of healthy tooth structure and carious tooth structure during the examination and treatment phases.
